The Operations Controller (Flight Operations Assistant) supports the day-to-day management of flights to ensure safe, on-time departures and regulatory compliance. This role combines flight operations support with ground operations coordination duties, working under EASA regulations in a European airline environment. The Operations Controller provides critical assistance to flight crews and other operations staff by coordinating ground handling services, monitoring flight plans and slots (CTOT), and maintaining communication with all relevant teams to facilitate the safe conduct of flight operations.

Education: High-school diploma or higher
Language & Communication:
Excellent command of the English language is required, both written
and spoken
Computer Skills: Proficient
with standard office software and able to quickly learn specialized
flight operations IT systems (flight planning tools, airline OCC
software, crew scheduling systems, etc.). Computer literacy and the
ability to adapt to new technology are essential
Preferred skills:
Strong Communication:
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to coordinate
effectively with pilots, air traffic control, ground crews, and other
stakeholders. Ability to convey clear, concise information and
confirm mutual understanding, which helps prevent errors during
fast-paced operations
Attention to Detail: High
attention to detail in monitoring flight data, slot times, and
documentation. Vigilance in following checklists and standard
procedures to ensure nothing is overlooked, thereby maintaining
safety and compliance.
Problem-Solving &
Decision-Making: Effective at analyzing situations and solving
problems under time pressure. Capable of making quick, sound
decisions during disruptions or changing conditions, while
prioritizing safety and operational continuity

Organizational Skills: Strong
organizational and time management skills. Ability to juggle multiple
tasks (e.g., monitoring several flights simultaneously, handling
communications and documentation) efficiently without sacrificing
accuracy.
Your responsibilities will include:
Ensure On-Time Flight Departures: Monitor daily flight
schedules and turnaround times, taking proactive measures to avoid
delays. Coordinate closely with all departments to meet on-time
performance targets and promptly address any issues that could impact
departure times.
Coordinate Ground Handling
Services: Supervise and liaise with ground handling teams to
oversee fueling, catering, baggage loading, boarding, etc. Work with
handlers, maintenance, dispatchers, crew controllers and other ground
personnel to sequence these activities efficiently, ensuring all
services are completed safely and on schedule.
Manage ATC Flight Plans and Slots
(CTOT): Manage ATC flight plans and monitor slot times (CTOT) for
each flight. Coordinate with air traffic control and Eurocontrol as
needed to secure required slot allocations and adjust plans for any
airspace or flow control restrictions. Ensure crews are provided with
the necessary information in a timely matter.
Flight Monitoring and
Communication: Perform flight following duties by tracking the
progress of active flights. Provide updates or operational
information to pilots as necessary for the safe conduct of the
flight. In the event of diversions or delays, coordinate with
relevant teams (ATC, ground ops, crew scheduling, maintenance) to
minimize impact on the schedule.
Irregular Operations and
Emergency Response: Assist in managing disruptions such as
weather delays, technical issues, or other irregular operations,
helping to implement contingency plans. In an emergency, follow the
company’s emergency procedures and relay critical information to
the flight crew and authorities, without conflicting with ATC
procedures. Support the airline’s crisis response plan as required.
Regulatory Compliance and
Documentation: Ensure all operations adhere to EASA Air
Operations regulations and the airline’s standard operating
procedures. Report any safety or security incidents through the
Safety Management System in line with regulatory and company
requirements.
Collaboration and Other Duties:
Work closely with OCC colleagues such as flight dispatchers, crew
schedulers, and maintenance controllers to share information and
resolve operational issues. Communicate with external partners
(ground handlers, catering services, fuel providers) to confirm
arrangements and solve problems. Perform any other duties as assigned
by the OCC Manager or Head of Operations Control to support smooth
flight operations.
