Director of Operations Transformation

FLYYO is transforming from ACMI/charter operations into a scheduled Ultra Low-Cost Carrier. We are looking for a Director of Operations Transformation to design and implement the operational model that will support this transition.
This is not a steady-state operations role. It is a build-mode role for someone who can redesign how FLYYO operates across ground operations, airport services, passenger services, turnaround processes, operational systems, handler coordination, and regulatory procedures.
The role reports to the COO and will work closely with Operations, IT, Procurement, Commercial, Finance, Safety, Compliance, handlers, airports, and the regulator.

What you will do

You will lead the transformation of FLYYO’s operating model into a fast, efficient, paperless, ULCC-grade operation.
Key responsibilities include:

  • Design and implement the target operating model for scheduled ULCC operations.

  • Build clear operational procedures for turnaround, ground handling, fuelling, boarding, station processes, and disruption handling.

  • Lead the rewrite and implementation of the Ground Operations Manual and related procedures.

  • Support the integration of airport services and passenger services into the new operating model.

  • Ensure alignment between ground operations, PSS, DCS, check-in flow, weight & balance, OCC processes, and crew procedures.

  • Define operational system requirements together with IT and external providers.

  • Support the implementation of paperless and automated operational workflows.

  • Lead operational requirements for handler tenders together with Procurement.

  • Define handler SLAs, service levels, escalation paths, and performance scorecards.

  • Develop a real-time operational communication system between OCC, stations, handlers, and operational teams.

  • Monitor turnaround performance, OTP, controllable delays, and handler performance.

  • Work with RoCAA, Compliance, and Safety teams to ensure regulatory acceptance and operational readiness.

What we are looking for

  • Minimum 8 years of experience in airline ground operations or major handler operations.

  • At least 3 years in a senior operational role.

  • Experience in a low-cost or ultra-low-cost airline environment.

  • Strong understanding of airport operations, passenger services, check-in, DCS/PSS flows, weight & balance, and ground handling.

  • Experience with turnaround improvement, handler performance management, and operational procedures.

  • Ability to build or redesign an operational function, not only manage an existing one.

  • Comfortable working with operational technology, automation, integrations, and paperless processes.

  • Experience working with handlers, airports, and aviation authorities.

  • Strong English skills.

Nice to have

  • Experience launching scheduled airline operations.

  • Experience implementing paperless operations.

  • Experience with real-time operational communication tools.

  • Experience across Eastern Europe, Middle East, or Mediterranean leisure routes.
